Simulating a Storage Area Network for the Department of Engineering Science

Objective

The objective of this project is to use OPNET's Modeler to simulate the storage system within the Department of Engineering Science (DES) at The University of Auckland. This project arose from the DES storage system design project and ran concurrently with the later stages of that project.

Approach

This project was performed as two student projects:

• Summer Internship 2006/2007
• Honours Research Project 2007

This work predominantly used OPNET Modeler for simulation and ACE for measuring data traffic. This software was licensed via OPNET's University Program. For more details see the OPNET website.

We were very lucky in this project to obtain help with OPNET Modeler from Vasil Hnatyshin (Department of Computer Science, Rowan University, New Jersey, USA).
