<!-- Ready to Review - done - Lauren--> ---+ Welcome to the Operations Research Web This web is for learning Operations Research (OR). In this web we emphasise the mathematical models, usually referred to as _formulations_, used in OR. You can navigate around the site to read about various OR topics and look at case studies related to these topics. You can try solving these real world problems yourself in one of the OR software packages used in the case study. You can also try to solve a real world problem from scratch using one of the "DIY" (do-it-yourself) case studies. You will find introductory pages on a number of OR topics. Each page will contain an introduction to the topic and links to case studies from that topic. There may also be links to further subtopics with their own case studies. The case studies will contain problem descriptions, formulations, computational models, results and conclusions. Some case studies may also contain an Extra for Experts section for experienced OR practitioners. Other case studies may have a Student Tasks section that provides possible tasks to aid student learning. Some case studies may be DIY case studies which give a problem description and leave the formulation, computational model, etc for the practitioner to complete. Your access to various topics within this web is controlled by the group (Main.MaintenanceGroup, Main.ContributorGroup, Main.TeacherGroup, Main.StudentGroup) you belong to. Please see the [[Main.WebHome][Main Web]] for more details. ---++ Using this Web We recommend you first read about our [[OperationsResearchMethodology][OR methodology]] (%RED%read me first!%ENDCOLOR%) Once you are comfortable with the OR methodology, you can get started learning about different OR topics: * [[MathematicalProgramming][Mathematical Programming]] * [[LinearProgramming][Linear Programming]] * [[IntegerProgramming][Integer Programming]] * [[NonlinearProgramming][Nonlinear Programming]] * [[NetworkOptimisation][Network Optimisation]] * [[SimulationModelling][Simulation Modelling]] You can learn more about OR applied in some specialty areas: * [[SupplyChains][Supply Chains]] You may also like to explore some of the different OR software packages available: * [[AMPLGuide][AMPL]] (Mathematical Programming) * [[PulpDippy][PuLP and Dippy]] (Linear and Integer Programming) * [[ArenaGuide][Arena]] (Simulation) * [[JaamSim][JaamSim]] (Simulation) You can also [[https://twiki.esc.auckland.ac.nz/twiki/bin/view/Forum/WebHome][participate in discussions]] about OR topics, software, etc. ---++!! <noautolink>OpsRes</noautolink> Web Links <form action="%SCRIPTURLPATH{view}%/%INCLUDINGWEB%/WebSearch"> * <input class="twikiInputField" type="text" name="search" size="22" /> <input type="submit" class="twikiSubmit" value="Search" /> - [[WebSearchAdvanced][advanced search]] * WebTopicList - all topics in alphabetical order * WebChanges - recent topic changes in this web * WebNotify - subscribe to an e-mail alert sent when topics change * WebRss, WebAtom - RSS and ATOM news feeds of topic changes * WebStatistics - listing popular topics and top contributors * WebPreferences - preferences of this web </form>
