Nonlinear Programming

Nonlinear programmes are one of the most general types of mathematical programmes. The form of a nonlinear programme is:

\[ \begin{array}{rr@{}l} \min & f(& x) \\ \text{subject to} & g(& x) \left\{ \begin{matrix} \leq \\ = \\ \geq \end{matrix} \right\} 0 \end{array} \]

where $f(x)$ and $g(x)$ are any mathematical expression (cf. linear expressions for linear programming).
